On May 2nd, 2018, neXt Curve hosted a webcast panel discussion with special guest from IBM to discuss the Institute of Business Value (IBV)’s research and white paper entitled “Using Data by Design: Digital Reinvention in Electronics”. Cristene Gonzalez-Wertz, Director of Electronics Research, Scott Burnett, Director of IBM Global Markets, and Reza Firouzbakht, Partner and Digital Strategy Leader, IBM GBS shared the highlights of their research with Dean Freeman, Akshay Sharma and Jodi Starkman of neXt Curve.
What Comes After Digital Reinvention?
The IBM and neXt Curve panel discussed what comes after Digital Reinvention. As artificial intelligence and advanced robotics converge with maturing applications of IoT and ubiquitous computing (Edge & 5G), the panel hypothesized that enterprise would be able drive new forms of learning organizational and business models that are built on adaptable platforms that go beyond data sharing and analytics. The future of Digital Reinvention could very well be intelligent automation.
While the promise of Digital Reinvention may sound exciting, privacy with the advent of GDPR is a key consideration and possible constraint that electronics companies and firms in other industries much factor into their Digital Reinvention vision. While data by design may guide your aspirations for a reimagined business, you will want to design privacy into your final assumption set and business model design.
